Worldwide air pollution is responsible for large numbers of deaths and cases of respiratory disease. Enforced air quality standards, like the Clean Air Act in the United States, have reduced the presence of some pollutants. While major stationary sources are often identified with air pollution, the greatest source of emissions are actually mobile sources, principally the automobile. There are many available air pollution control technologies and urban planning strategies available to reduce air pollution; however, worldwide costs of addressing the issue are high. The most immediate method of improving air quality would be the use of bioethanol fuel, biodiesel, solar energy, and hybrid vehicle technologies. The World Health Organization estimates that 4.6 million people die each year from causes directly attributable to air pollution. Many of these mortalities are attributable to indoor air pollution. Worldwide more deaths per year are linked to air pollution than to automobile accidents. Direct causes of air pollution related deaths include aggravated asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung and heart diseases, and respiratory allergies. More than ever before it is crucial that our immune system remains strong due to the simple fact that we cannot control what is in the air we breathe, it’s all around us. All we can do is affect how our bodies react to the constant onslaught of pollution. Eat antioxidant rich foods, drink plenty of pure/alkaline drinking water, avoid processed foods and look into taking therapeutic strength supplements such as WellPoint’s IMUN RX and LIFEFORCE which can detoxify, strengthen and help protect the body on a day to day basis.

The real fun starts when your immune system begins to fight, this begins as soon as the flu virus starts to replicate. This can be alarming. The influenza virus has already started its own rapid replication. The immune system must generate a proper war. The virus infiltrates your lungs, throat, and nose causing inflammation, swelling and pain. In your lungs, the mucus accumulates from the inflammation that causes you to cough constantly as your body works to clear airways. And because your lungs are now damaged and vulnerable, you have a greater chance of acquiring pneumonia from an opportunistic strain of bacteria. How about the whole-body aches and pains, not to mention the fever that keeps you pinned down to the couch under a hefty load of blankets. That’s your immune system at work. The aches and pains that make you feel like you just ran an endurance run, is beneficial, because this helps to strengthen the immune system. As for the awful fever and chills you can thank your immune system again. It’s a sign that that your body is fighting its invaders. It’s strange to think that almost every awful symptom you feel during the flu is the result of your own body attempting to attack it. But consider what would happen if your body did not react this way. You wouldn’t get the nagging cough, the aches and pains, or even the persistent fever. Instead, the flu virus would continue to replicate and slowly destroy the lining of the respiratory tract or worse, allow bacteria to cause pneumonia and destroy it first. And, since you need your respiratory tract to live, you might survive to tell the tale.

Your gut controls the functions of your immune system by a whopping 70%! Ginger Root is probably the best digestive and carminative herb employed today. Ginger Root is the catalyst which turns what would otherwise be an ordinary colon formula into the best formula available. While ginger is not a laxative per se, it increases peristalsis by toning the intestinal muscle. However, it’s greatest achievements are probably found in its ability to improve digestion and prevent nausea, gas and bloating. Ginger also assists digestion through the action of its endogenous enzymes and second by stimulating bile flow. It improves circulation, especially in the periphery. Its circulatory and digestive action improves the effectiveness of the other herbs. Ginger stimulates saliva production which can be helpful with dry coughs. Ginger exerts an anti-inflammatory action in bronchitis. It also works to cleanse the bowel and promote perspiration. Ginger is a warming herb with several effects that make it a useful herb with widespread application. It provokes a cleansing sweat, and this effect, along with its properties as an expectorant, make it an ideal herb for bronchial infections. It is very widely used in mild gastrointestinal infections. It is also used to control nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. A study published in the prestigious British medical journal THE LANCET found ginger more effective than dramamine in preventing nausea associated with motion sickness. It has vasodilating properties and is widely used to increase circulation to the extremes when this is impaired. In short, ginger is most often used when a warming agent is required, especially when its expectorant properties or its calming effect on the gastrointestinal system would be beneficial, or as an aid to increase peripheral circulation.

WHO: World Health Organization has issued a global alert for a potential pandemic. A GLOBAL alert has been issued to the world’s doctors over a potentially savage pathogen which has been dubbed “Disease X”. Disease X, also known as H7N9, is a new strain of the avian flu virus that has so far infected 1,600 people and killed more than 600 in China. “Disease X, an unexpected pathogen threatens to become a worldwide pandemic” the deputy chief medical officer for England warns. “H7N9 is an example of another virus which has proven its ability to transmit from birds to humans,” said Professor Jonathan Van-Tam. “It’s possible that it could be the cause of the next pandemic.” The World Health Organization has added Disease X to its high-risk list which also includes Ebola, SARS, and MESS to name a few. “Influenza viruses constantly change and it is possible that this virus could gain the ability to spread easily and sustainably among people, triggering a global outbreak of disease,” says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It has the “greatest risk to severely impact public health if it were to achieve sustained human-to-human transmission”.

THIS SUPER HERB HAS BEEN USED IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. The University of Texas has shown it to be an adaptogenic herb which enables viruses, bacteria, and even cancer cells to be “picked up” on the immune system’s radar. In one study, Astragalus membranaceus was able to restore immune function in 90% of the cancer patients studied. Astragalus is a powerful “non-specific” immune modulator. Instead of activating our defense system against a specific disease organism, it modulates immunity by increasing the numbers and activity of macrophages, which are roving white blood cells that engulf invading organisms. When a person is diagnosed with cancer, the ripple effect on the rest of their health can often cause more trouble than the disease itself. During one study, researchers investigated the effects of astragalus on cancer patients with compromised immune systems because of chemotherapy. Patients taking a supplement with astragalus extract experienced a faster recovery and improved survival rates. Astragalus improves your cellular health by slowing down the wear and tear of your DNA. Within your DNA, there are small stands called telomeres that keep your cells from unravelling. The root extracts extend the life of your telomeres, making you look younger and slowing down the aging process on a cellular level. Astragalus’s diuretic effect flushes toxins from your body. Many studies have shown high blood pressure is a critical factor contributing to heart disease. Astragalus aids in blood vessel dilation, which can lower your blood pressure naturally. Patients with diabetes can safely rely on astragalus to lower and balance their blood glucose levels. One study discovered that it restored high blood sugar to normal and raised blood sugar when it was too low. Since astragalus contains antibacterial and antiviral properties, it has been used effectively to treat allergies, colds and flus. ️

Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda, a form of alternative medicine based on Indian principles of natural healing. Ashwagandha is an Ayurveda herb, used for over 3000 years, known for its extremely powerful and notoriously restorative benefits. It is an adaptogen that helps regulate the hormones in your body. An adaptogen is a natural substance that helps the body adapt and regulate to cope with the stresses of life and restore balance. Ashwagandha can reduce blood sugar levels, through its effects on insulin secretion and sensitivity. Ashwagandha has Anti-Cancer properties. Animal and test-tube studies have found that this herb helps induce the apoptosis or “programmed cell death” of cancer cells. It also impedes the growth of new cancer cells. Animal studies suggest that it may be beneficial for treating several types of cancer, including breast, lung, colon, brain and ovarian cancer. Ashwagandha helps to decrease inflammation. Studies in humans have found that it increases the activity of natural killer cells, which are immune cells that fight infection and help you stay healthy. It has also been shown to decrease markers of inflammation, such as C-reactive protein (CRP) This marker is linked to an increased risk of heart disease. In addition to its anti-inflammatory effects, ashwagandha may improve heart health by reducing cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It may improve brain function, including memory reaction times and the ability to perform tasks.
